Dear First Grade Families,
Welcome to first grade at Gold Rush Elementary!  I am excited to begin a new school year and look forward to meeting you and developing a partnership with you as parents.  First Grade is an adventure and has been my favorite grade to teach.  It is so much fun to see the growth that takes place!  You will be amazed, and I look forward to sharing the journey with you and your child!

I am entering my 22nd year of teaching, all here in Douglas County.  I have been at Gold Rush since it opened in 2008, and I love being part of such a wonderful school and community!  I taught Kindergarten our first year before moving to first grade.  Prior to that I was in Highlands Ranch, where I spent time teaching first, third, fourth, and fifth grades.   I also worked with struggling readers in a reading intervention program.  I received my Masters of Arts in Teaching in 1999.
My husband, Steve, and I are Colorado natives and we enjoy doing many of the great things our state has to offer.  We have two sons, Blake and Tyler, who both attended Gold Rush and will be at Cimarron Middle School this year.  Blake will be an eighth grader, and Tyler will be a sixth grader.  With three boys in the house we spend a lot of time playing and watching sports!  Together we love to ski, hike, and spend as much time as we can in the mountains.  We also enjoy cheering on all our Colorado teams!
I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your child!  Feel free to email me atStacie.martino@dcsdk12.org if you have any questions or concerns.  I look forward to our year together!
Respectfully,
Stacie Martino
